Charity run aims to connect sick children, Father Christmas

The UK Charity Activity Group is holding a charity half-marathon 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday outside the Ramstein Base Exchange. The event is being held to raise money for the Lapland Appeal, which aims  to send 12 seriously ill children to Lapland this December to see Father Christmas.

The half-marathon will be run on a treadmill outside the BX by various members of the UK forces.  To encourage the attendance of more spectators, runners will don all the different uniforms worn by members of the UK forces, including normal combat gear, NBC uniforms, fireman’s uniform, doctor’s uniform, paramedic uniforms and pilots’ flight suits. The event is due to be started by the British Senior National Representative at Ramstein, Group Captain Teakle, who intends to run in a flight suit.

The UKCAG has raised money already through a variety of means, including car washes, bingo nights and horse racing nights. To find out how to help, stop by the Ramstein BX Saturday or e-mail Neil Ward at ward1380@yahoo.co.uk. (Courtesy of the UK Charity Activity Group)
