Children’s fest in K-town Saturday

To celebrate World Children’s Day, which is observed Saturday, a children’s fest will take place in the “Altstadt” – the old town of Kaiserslautern. The Kaisers-lautern youth department, the children’s protection association and SOS children’s villages will provide an entertaining program to lure children to the area between Stockhausplatz and Kaiser Fountain.

A musical parade with a drum group going from Martinsplatz to Stockhausplatz will start the event at 11:45 a.m. Drums and dances will officially open the fest at noon. Gina Ginella, a clown, will entertain the children at 1:30 p.m., and a local dance school will invite children to participate in dancing at 2 p.m. The Fast Forward Theater will perform on stage at 3 p.m. and at 4:45 p.m., a balloon activity will get started.

The Theodor-Zink-Museum, Steinstrasse 48, will provide the stage for a puppet theater at 1 and 3:15 p.m. Tobias and his gingerbread man will take children into wonderland at 1:30 and 4 p.m. Boretti, a traffic magician, will explain traffic rules in a playful way at 2 p.m. Tarte flambée (French pizza) and beverages will  also be served.

Across the street from Theodor-Zink-Museum, in Wadgasserhof, children can participate in media games and try to print with different materials. There will be face painting, crafts and a mini playback show. More activities on Steinstrasse will include photo shooting, making flip-books and turning the fortune wheel. Cakes, muffins, pretzels and sausages will be available for hungry children.
