This year’s “Kinderfest,” children’s fest, will take place tomorrow, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the center of Kaiserslautern. The city of Kaiserslautern and the Kaiser in Lautern association presents this annual event with the motto “Fun and action in the city.” Stores, local clubs and other institutions will offer activities for children and families downtown. Activities are planned at the pedestrian zone, Am Altenhof around Stiftskirche and on the nature strip at the Pfalztheater.

“The purpose of the event is to create experiences in the shopping city and thus to emphasize its versatility,” said Alexander Heß, chairman of the Kaiser in Lautern association.
Around Stiftskirche, the youth fire department and the bambini fire department will display a fire truck and a wheel of fortune. Children can watch or partake in dancing at a kids disco. The dance sports club from Winnweiler will perform a hip hop show. Children can also try to sew and make their own artwork using a sewing machine, get their face painted or enjoy a bouncing castle.

At Fackelstrasse, the radio station RPR1 will offer a bouncing castle or handshake with the mascot, the RPR1 bear. “Learning is fun,” concentration and skill games and a merry-go-round will attract children here.
In the basement of the K in Lautern mall children will be entertained by creating their own ironing beads pictures.
At Marktstrasse, the city of Kaiserslautern together with the Kaiser in Lautern association will crown the young visitors as Emperors and surprise them with a ballon.
Children are encouraged to try their skills playing various instruments offered by the Kolping brass band.
At Riesenstrasse, children will be entertained with miniature golf, hockey or chemistry, physics and mathematics experiments.
The radio station Antenne Kaiserslautern will entertain the visitors with a children’s radio station. A bakery will teach children how to bake their own goodies. The children’s snack booth will saturate hunger.
Children will get to learn how to make ballons or create their own artwork using a sewing machine.
A free kiddy train will take children on a tour through the pedestrian zone starting at Riesenstrasse.
Handicraft stations are set up at Marktstrasse, Kerststrasse, Am Altenhof, Riesenstrasse and Fackelrondell.
