Choir approves new director


The Rheinland-Pfalz Inter-national Choir approved a new director at its general membership meeting Jan. 16. Sam Alexander replaces Frau Irmela Knoll-Kliewer.

***image1***Mr. Alexander retired recently after teaching high school music in Europe for 33 years. He directed the music program at Kaiserslautern American High School for 21 years, the Department of Defense Dependents School–Europe Honor Chorus for 25 years, and the vocal program at Ramstein American High School for two years. He also directed the Trippstadt Gospel-Spiritual Choir for eight years.

Mr. Alexander conducted an audition-rehearsal with the RPIC during its meeting Jan. 16, and the choir members were so happy with his performance that they elected him unanimously to be the new director.
  The Rheinland-Pfalz International Choir is a mixed group of Americans and Germans, men and women.

Rehearsals take place 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays in the Protestant community hall in Kaiserslautern-Erzhütten. Music includes classic, international folk music, religious and seasonal music.
