The state of Rheinland-Pfalz turns 60 and to honor this fact, 300 government agencies and community installations sponsor open houses.

Kaiserslautern opens the doors of its city hall to the public 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

Visitors can check out different rooms including conference rooms and the wedding room.

Several agencies such as the youth and sports department and the German-American Community Office have stands in the foyers to pass out information about their service.

Disaster control vehicles and historical fire trucks can be admired in front of the city hall. Children have fun in doing crafts, face painting, water games and jumping on a bouncing-castle.

Guided tours through Barbarossa Castle and the offices of the Lord Mayor are offered.

The Emmerich-Smola Music School provides the musical entertainment. Home-made bread, home-brewed beer, European cake specialties and more can be tasted.

The Fruchthalle and the Tourist Information Office across the street from the city hall are also open.
