Civil Engineer’s Corner

In ground dumpsters
Those unsightly dumpsters are disappearing. Underground containers are
being installed throughout the KMC and are now available for housing
residents at Vogelweh.  Installation of underground dumpsters on
Vogelweh is expected to continue through the fall. Although not
yet awarded, a project to install the dumpsters at Ramstein Housing
has  also been approved.  Each container will be
labeled.  Please dispose of refuse in the proper container,
“break down” cardboard boxes, and ensure all trash is inside containers
– not around them.

Housing area update
In addition to new townhouses currently under construction in the
Ramstein, Landstuhl, and Vogelweh housing areas, KMC housing residents
will soon enjoy new playgrounds, picnic and grill pads, and new
landscaping around their buildings.  For Ramstein residents,
installation of a new playground is nearly complete at Bldg. 833.
Buildings 830/831, 833,  839, 842, and 850 are expected to be
completed by mid-August.  For Vogelweh families, plans are being
finalized to construct/replace playgrounds behind Buildings 1030,
1104/1106, 1108/1110, 1126/1128, 1129/1131, and 1133/1135.  In
addition, residents along Colorado Street will see progress on
improvements to the appearance in front of their buildings.
Landscape work includes bench pads and new benches with tiered
shrubbery.  New playgrounds are also being constructed at
Landstuhl by Buildings 3866, 3855 and 3840.
