Independence Day Fest: Bench Press & Farmers Carry Competitions
The Family and MWR Fitness, Athletics and Aquatics program is hosting a Bench Press at 4:30 p.m., and a Farmers Carry at 5:30 p.m. as part of the Independence Day on the Rock celebrations on July 4th on Minick Field on Smith Barracks. Gold medal and T-shirt will be awarded to the first-place male and female in both events. Events are for participants who are 18 years old and older. Use your Voice: Submit ideas to Improve your Community
Individuals can make a difference in the lives of Army Families by submitting issues for the U.S. Army Garrison Rheinland-Pfalz fiscal year 2026 Army Family Action Plan conference. Army Family Action Plan provides Soldiers, Army Civilians, Family members, Survivors, and Retirees a voice by Identifying quality of life and readiness issues for Army Senior Leadership resolution. Issues can be submitted now until Sep. 15 online through the Army Family Web Portal at https://ims.armyfamilywebportal.com by clicking on the QR code which leads to a MS form that only takes a few minutes to complete. SOS Survivor Support Group
The Army Community Service Survivor Outreach Services hosts a SOS Survivor Support Group second Thursday of every month from 5 to 7 p.m. in Building 3820 (next to the Thrift Shop), second floor conference room on Landstuhl Post. Registration is required and must be done by 2 p.m. the day of the meeting by calling the ACS front desk at 531-2863/2851 or 0611-143-531-2863/2851. This is an ongoing monthly support group for surviving family members of deceased active duty service members.
National Bowling Day
Celebrate National Bowling Day Saturday, Aug. 9 from 2 to 10 p.m. at the Strikers Bowling Center, Bldg. 8105 on Smith Barracks. It’s a day to celebrate the sport of bowling and encourage people of all ages and abilities to participate. Patrons can enjoy unlimited bowling all day for just $10 and $1.50 for shoes. Enrollment is now open for SKIES Unlimited gymnastics for ages 1 to 18 in the Kaiserslautern Community. Baumholder & Kaiserslautern Unit Level Flag Football
Registration for the 2025 Baumholder Intramural Sports Unit Level Flag Football Season for Soldiers is now until July 15. The season starts July 21 and ends Sep. 25. Letter of intent is available at the Hall of Champions, Bldg. 8105 on Smith Barracks in Baumholder, and Kleber Physical Fitness Center, Bldg. 3234 & 3235 on Kleber Kaserne. A mandatory coaches meeting is on July 15 at 6:30 p.m. at the Hall of Champions and KAD Field in Kaiserslautern. SKIES Driver’s Education
SKIES Unlimited is offering Driver’s Education for ages 15 to 18. Registration now open. Cost is $350. Classes are July 14 to 30 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:40 p.m. Course includes 45 credit hours, theory and driver simulator training. All participants must be registered with Army MWR Child and Youth Services. Youth Fall Sports Enrollments
Youth Sports Fall enrollments are now to July 11, or until teams are full. Sports offered are: Pom Dance, Soccer, Flag Football, Cheer, Volleyball, Cross Country and Tackle Football. Cost is $65 and up. Minimum age requirements vary by sports. A Sports Physical good through Nov. 15 is required. Baumholder Library “A Good Yarn”
The Baumholder Library offers “A Good Yarn” for crafters ages 15 and older every second Wednesday of the month from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the library, Bldg. 8332 on Smith Barracks. The next one will be July 9. This is an opportunity for crafters to gather, chat and work on individual crafting projects. It’s BYOCP (Bring Your Own Crafting Projects) and a good vibe. Thursday Night Comedy Show
From Slovenia, Anja Woot headlines the Thursday Comedy Show July 17 from 8 to 10 p.m. at the Kazabra Club, Bldg. 2057 on Vogelweh. Featured comedians are Mari Volar, a powerhouse on the European Comedy Circuit, and Joe Esch, from Pittsburgh, Pa. This is an 18+ event. Doors open at 7 p.m., tickets are $15 at the door. Register with Landstuhl Youth Center
The Landstuhl Youth Center is a facility for youth in grades 6th-12th that offers a wide range of programs and activities Monday through Friday, after school. This free program is available to youth who have a military affiliation in Germany. Homeschooled youth, and youth who attend either a German or DODEA school are welcome to join. Free Dance Lessons at Armstrong’s Club
The new open sessions of free beginner dance lessons is every Wednesday from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Armstrong’s Club, Bldg. 1036 on Vogelweh Housing. The focus is Country Two Step, Swing and Line Dance. Ten other styles are also available upon request. No experience necessary. Next session is July 9 to Aug. 6. Wear smooth bottom shoes. Rubber-soled athletic shoes are not ideal for dancing.
