Dogs to get new park soon

Construction on a new Ramstein dog park is expected to start this month, said Col. Earl Matthews, 435th Air Base Wing commander.

***image1***About $30,000 has been set aside for the project, he said. The new park will be between Bldgs. 841 and 844, by the rainwater basin.

The project should take about four to six weeks and be about 1/3 the size of a football field.

Ramstein dog owners previously used a small T-ball field as their dog park.
But, the spot was only temporary.

The park opened on a trial bases and officials soon found that the park was a popular spot.

About a dozen to 20 dogs, accompanied by their owners, frequented the park each day.

The dog park was recently closed so that the T-ball leagues could play their season.

The new park, “should be a great space for dog-owners to let their pets run and make new friends,” said Colonel Matthews.
