Girl Scout events
The Ramstein Girl Scouts are holding free events in September. • From 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Girl Scouts is hosting a Daisy Princess Tea for children in kindergarten through first grade. The event will be held at the Northside Chapel on Ramstein. • Come take part in Brownie Skate from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the Skate Express on Vogelweh. This skating event is open to children in second and third grade. • A movie night will take place Saturday at the Ramstein Scout Hut. Movie night will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. for sixth- to eighth-graders and from 6 to 8 p.m. for ninth- to 12-graders.

KES hosts Meet the Author event
The Kaiserslautern Elementary School Parent Teacher Student Organization presents award winning author David Schwartz from 12:15 to 1:10 p.m. today in the KES media center. Parents and community members are invited to the Meet the Author event, where Mr. Schwartz will be signing books. Mr. Schwartz makes math and science meaningful and fun and has nearly 50 published books, such as “How Much is a Million?” and “Where is the Wild? Camouflaged Creatures Concealed.”

Student honored with scholarship
Sean P. Pruett, an exercise physiology major, was selected to receive the John and Gertrude Odum Scholarship for Valdosta State University’s 2009-2010 school year in recognition of his superior academic achievements. Sean is the son
of David and Donna Pruett stationed at Ramstein.

Education comedian
Education comedian Jorge Cham of PhD (Piled Higher and Deeper) Comics will perform at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 13 at the Hercules Theater. Admission is free and sponsored by Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Mr. Cham’s comedy
routine will discuss what it is like being a student and procrastination.

Dental assisting program
The Ramstein Dental Clinic starts the next American Red Cross Dental Assisting Volunteer Program Nov. 2. The program is seven months, full time. This program is open to dependant ID card holders with a high school diploma or equivalent. There will be a mass briefing at 3 p.m. Oct. 6 in the Ramstein Dental Clinic waiting area.
