High School Students

Job Openings at Child and Youth Services

Are you interested in working with children and youth? Apply online for Child and Youth Services positions online at www.usajobs.gov. Look for job title: Child and Youth Program Assistant (Entry, Skill & Target Level) CY-01/02. Positions are available at Kleber, Landstuhl, Sembach and Miesau locations. Child and Youth Program Assistants work directly with children and youth and must be trustworthy, able to maintain a high degree of professionalism at all times and have the desire to be a positive influence on children and youth.

KMC Teen Shuttle

Child and Youth Services offer a KMC Teen Shuttle service.  Pick-up/drop-off points are located throughout Vogelweh, Vogelweh Housing, Ramstein, and Landstuhl. ID card, shuttle card and permissions slips are required to ride the shuttle. Apply for your Shuttle Card at Parent Central Services, Rhine Ordnance Bks., Bldg. 162, 541-9066 or 0611-143-541-9066.

Clubs Available at Landstuhl School Age Center

Did you know that Landstuhl School Age Center has several different clubs open to students, Grades 1-5? The different weekly clubs include theater, fitness, art, Lego robotics and film! Homework Assistance for Teens

USAG Rheinland-Pfalz Youth Programs provide a homework lab, tutoring and one-on-one homework assistance during Power Hour at the Youth Center, 3 to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Homework contracts are available to clarify direction of help needed and to get the student, Academic Program Manager and parents on the same page for daily or weekly goals and expectations. This is a great resource for youth that need additional help or just a quiet place to focus on their academics. Tots and Tales Storytime at
Rheinland-Pfalz Library

Tots and Tales Storytime at Rheinland-Pfalz Library is an entertaining event with flannel board fun, finger-plays, songs, activities and nursery rhymes! It promotes educational development and reading readiness in young children ages 12 to 24 months. Tots and Tales Storytime is held at 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. every Tuesday from September through July. Rheinland-Pfalz Library hosts a story time for preschool-aged children at
10:30 a.m. every Wednesday from September through July. This entertaining event includes stories, music and crafts for young children ages 3 to 5 years old and their parents. No sign-up required. Lapsit Storytime

Join the Rheinland-Pfalz Library for Lapsit Storytime! This infant story time is held at 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. every Thursday from September through May. The event includes sensory crafts, songs, finger-plays and stories. Light refreshments are available for the parents. Because of limited space, sign-up is required. A waitlist is also available, in which parents are notified the Saturday prior if a space has become available. Computer Assisted Piano Class

SKIESUnlimited offers a computer assisted piano class to help students learn how to play piano. Students receive both a 30-minute individual lesson and a 30-minute interactive piano lesson at a workstation with a stand-alone computer. Students are asked to bring piano books and other teaching materials that they may have if they have had piano instructions before. This class is offered on Pulaski Barracks, Bldg. 2901, and Landstuhl, Bldg. 3819. Open to ages 4 to 18. Open to all branches of service. Kindermusik is a musical program that nurtures young children’s development in the areas of language, social, emotional and physical skills. SKIESUnlimited offers Kindermusik classes for youth in three age categories: Cuddle & Bounce, ages 0 to 18 months; Wiggle & Grow, ages 18 months to 3 years; and Laugh & Learn, ages 3 to 5 years. Theater Classes

Did you know that children involved with theatrical arts programs outscore their non-arts student peers by an average of 65 points on SAT/ACT tests? Theater provides a safe, secure environment where children learn skill sets including public speaking, coping mechanisms, reading comprehension, verbal/non-verbal communication and more. SKIESUnlimited offers “Intro to Theatre” for ages 5-12 and “Shakespeare Scenes” for ages 12 and older.
