Events showcase heritage

***image1***Asian Pacific Americans represent a proud part of the ever-diversifying cultural makeup of our country who helped shape America’s character, Col. Earl Matthews, 435th Air Base Wing commander, wrote in a proclamation he signed earlier this month for National Asian Pacific Heritage Month.

In the KMC, it has been a month of activities and cultural events showcasing Asian Pacific dance, food and literature. The month culminates with a banquet June 1, featuring a variety of food and dance.

Oher activities are scheduled as follows:
Wednesday: 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Oriental lunch at the Rheinland Inn Dining Facility.

Thursday: 9:30 to 11 a.m., Hawaii and Samoa reading at the Ramstein Library.
June 1: 6 to 10:30 p.m. “A Wacky Tourist Luau” banquet featuring roasted pig, lumpia, teriyaki beef and Hawaiian-style chicken.

Tickets cost $23 for Ramstein Officers’ Club members and $25 for non-members.
