A farm fest featuring a creative market will take place from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sept. 26 and 27 at the Hitscherhof farm located between Thaleischweiler and Rieschweiler. Pumpkins will be the highlight of this traditional event where regional products, arts and crafts will also be presented.

Farmers will offer fresh agricultural products including fruit, vegetables, potatoes, meat, cheese, honey, wurst and bread. Other items for sale will be oil, liquor, wine, juices, mustard, tea, candy, relish, chutneys, herbal salt, pasta and pesto.

Art and craft vendors will display a variety of items such as jewelry, leather items, wooden toys, hats, caps, scarves, purses, pottery, baskets and garden accessories. Some crafters will even demonstrate how they create their products.

The food specialties being offered will range from pumpkin soup, corn on the cob, bratwurst and schwenksteaks to Flammkuchen, or flambe tarte, a French thin pizza covered with bacon, onion and sour cream. For those who have a sweet tooth, waffles and cakes will also be available.

Children can enjoy a walk through the corn maze, jump on a straw castle and ride ponies.

Pumpkins will decorate the farm and will also be available for visitors to purchase. Other products visitors can buy include pumpkin marmalade, pumpkin seed oil and pumpkin sparkling wine.

To get to Hitscherhof farm, take autobahn A62 from Landstuhl south to the Thaleischweiler-Froeschen exit. After exiting, go west toward Rieschweiler and before reaching Rieschweiler, turn right to Hitscherhof. For more information, visit www.hitscherhof.com.
