Friendship club offers German classes; kegel evenings start tonight

***image1***In the first semester of 2007, the German-American Friendship Association Siegelbach offers German classes for beginners and continuing students.

Classes mostly run for 15 weeks and take place in the Siegelbach Hauptschule (high school).

“In our classes, our instructors also want to teach a little bit about German culture and traditions,” said Anne Smith, GAFAS vice president. “By learning German, you can make friends for a lifetime.”

The association also offers a variety of group events which include walks, hikes, trips and games.

Kegel evenings, which take place once a month, start 8 p.m. today at the Burgherrenhalle in Hohenenecken.

Following is a list of the classes:

German for beginners – intensive (two nights per week; 30 class sessions; course fee is €130)
• Monday/Wednesday, 8 to 9:30 p.m., Feb. 5 to May 14

German for Beginners
(one night per week; 15 90-minute class sessions; course fee is €65)
• Monday, 6:30 to 8 p.m.; Feb. 5 to May 14
• Thursday, 8 to 9:30 p.m.; Feb. 8 to May 17
• Friday, 7 to 8:30 p.m.; Feb. 2 to April 20 (NOTE: Friday class is two hours, so there are only 12 sessions)

Continuing German (one night per week; 15 class sessions; course fee is €65)
• Tuesday, 6:30 to 8 p.m., Feb. 6 to May 15 (begins at Lektion 4)
• Tuesday, 8 to 9:30 p.m.; Feb. 6 to May 15 (begins at Lektion 10)
• Wednesday, 6:30 to 8 p.m.; Feb. 7 to May 16 (begins at Lektion 6)
• Thursday, 6:30 to 8 p.m.; Feb. 8 to May 17 (begins at Lektion 4)

The textbook for all classes, “Themen Aktuell,” and the workbook will cost €30.

Registration will be held at the school 10 a.m. to noon Saturdays and 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays, through Feb. 3.
