Dec. 3 will be an important day for the German-American community Office in Kaiserslautern.

For the sixth consecutive year they will be part of the Christmas market in Kaiserslautern.

“Like in previous years, we’ll present a wonderful program from a stage set up on Schillerplatz,” said Sissi Koesling from the GACO. From noon to 9 p.m., GACO employees try to bring the American Christmas spirit across by presenting American music groups, choirs and dancers.

“We were able to get a positive reply to our invitations from both the Kaiserslautern and Ramstein High and Middle Schools wanting to participate with choirs and bands,” Mrs. Koesling said. “Even the USAFE Band’s Wings of Dixie want to join us and help to promote friendship between our nations.”

The U.S. Army Garrison Kaiserslautern brings its Kiddie Train, which offers children free rides around the Christmas market.

Santa Claus will make his appearance to welcome visitors and pass out the typical American candy canes.

The following is a schedule of performers:
• Noon: The Royal Chorus Show Choir, Ramstein High School
• 1 p.m.: Step Team, Ramstein High School
• 1:30 p.m.: Ramstein Middle School Band
• 2 p.m.: Kaiserslautern Middle School Concert Band
• 2:45 p.m.: Kaiserslautern High School Jazz Band
• 3:30 p.m. American Step Dance
• 4 p.m.: Honor Choir, Kaiserslautern Elementary School
• 5 p.m.: U.S. Air Forces in Europe Band Wings of Dixie
• 6:15 p.m.: KMC Catholic Community Choir
• 7:30 p.m.: Thunderhill Square Dancers
• 8 p.m.: Vogelweh Gospel Choir

“Unfortunately last year we were not able to present the whole program due to rainy weather,” said Mrs. Koesling. “So hopefully Dec. 3 will be a nice day with a lot of spectators coming to enjoy the performances of our American friends.”
