German-American friendship club starts German classes in September

The German-American Friendship Association Siegelbach starts its second semester of German classes for beginners and continuing students Sept. 4.
Classes take place in the Siegelbach Hauptschule (high school) Am Wäldchen.
“For 20 years now, we have offered German and English classes,” said Anne Smith, GAFAS vice president. “Whether you are new to Germany or have already lived here for a while, learning German will help you to enjoy all that Germany has to offer.”

Classes are offered in two formats: 90-minute classes for 16 weeks and 120-minute classes for 12 weeks.

“Also, all classes now deliver 24 classroom hours instead of the 22.5 hours held previously,” said Mrs. Smith. “After many years  our prices remained constant, and due to the increase in class time, we must raise our class fee by only €5.”

Following is a list of the classes:

German for beginners:
•Tuesday, 8 to 9:30 p.m.; Sept. 4 to Dec. 18
•Wednesday, 6 to 8 p.m.; Sept. 12 to
Dec. 5

Continuing German:
•Tuesday, 6:30 to 8 p.m., Sept. 4 to Dec. 18 (Themen Aktuell, Lektion 4)
•Wednesday, 8 to 10 p.m.; Sept. 1 to Dec. 5 (Themen Aktuell, Lektion 6)
•Thursday, 7 to 9 p.m.; Sept. 12 to Dec. 6 (Themen Aktuell 2)
The course fee for each class is €70. The textbook for all classes, “Themen Aktuell,” and the workbook cost €30.

Registration will be held 6:30 to 8 p.m.  Wednesdays and 10 a.m. to noon Saturdays at the Hauptschule, through Sept. 9.
