Gifts make a world of difference

The annual Combined Federal Campaign-Overseas giving program runs from Oct. 2 to Dec. 1.

Last year, federal employees gave a record $268.5 million, an $11 million increase over pledges in 2004.

Fast facts
• CFC started in 1961 and is the nation’s largest workplace charity drive and the only philanthropic effort permitted by law in the federal workplace.
• Since its inception, the CFC has raised more than $5.5 billion.
• Pledges made by federal civilian, postal and military donors during the campaign season – Sept. 1 to Dec. 15 – support eligible non-profit organizations that provide health and human service benefits throughout the world.
• Nearly four million federal employees and military personnel are able to contribute to the charities of their choice during the annual charity drive.
• There are more than 1,400 national and international federations and charities; some 40,000 local charities qualify for the CFC each year and they must meet strict eligibility standards.
• CFC donors may direct gifts to one or more eligible national or international federation or charities as well as to eligible groups operating in local communities.

How to give
1. Browse the 2006 CFC-O contributor brochure or use the charity search option on the Web site to select your charity or charities of choice.
2. Fill out your 2006 CFC-O pledge card completely and accurately.
3. Turn your completed pledge card into your local CFC-O volunteer.
