GST, FRST execute rapid emergency care in joint exercise

U.S. Air Force Airmen assigned to the 86th Medical Group Ground Surgical Team and U.S. Army Soldiers assigned to the 160th Medical Detachment Forward Resuscitative Surgical Team participate in a joint emergency medical and surgical care exercise at Breitenwald Training Area, Landstuhl, March 9. U.S. Air Force Airmen assigned to the 86th Medical Group Ground Surgical Team and U.S. Army Soldiers assigned to the 160th Medical Detachment Forward Resuscitative Surgical Team treat simulated patients during a joint emergency medical and surgical care exercise at Breitenwald Training Area, Landstuhl, March 9. The joint GST, FRST exercise gave medical personnel the opportunity to demonstrate damage control surgery and emergency care of simulated injured patients in an environment outside of established support.

Air Force and Army medical personnel worked together during the exercise to establish an emergency room and operating room in a simulated deployed environment.
