Hauenstein holds shoe mile festival

***image1***Hauenstein sponsors its first shoe mile festival Saturday and Sunday. All stores along the so-called “shoe mile” are open until midnight Saturday, and from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday.

There is an entertaining program with games, activities and music.
Saturday, activities start around noon.

A soccer tournament takes place on the biggest soccer table in the Kinder Fun Park in Industriestrasse.

Activities on the stages start at 6:30 p.m. RPR1 radio station presents live performances by the bands Acoustical Jam playing rock and pop, Trio Stinato with swing, Latin and jazz, and DJ Andy Chlormann playing songs from the current charts.

A Caribbean night offers cool drinks and hot rhythms.

Sunday starts with Frühschopen, an early morning beer get-together, at 11 a.m. Visitors can taste various Palatinate specialties, but also flammkuchen and crêpes.

Hauenstein is the biggest shoe village of the world. It offers a collection of more than one million pairs of shoes.

***image2***The shoe production played a big role for people living in Hauenstein at the end of the 19th century. Visitors find the glassy shoe production, the biggest shoe of the world and the German Shoe Museum.

Hauenstein is on federal street B10, east of Pirmasens, between Hinterweidenthal and Annweiler.
