Col. Earl Matthews, 435th Air Base Wing commander, presented 98 individual President’s Volunteer Service Awards. Club members earned these awards by volunteering a combined total of 11,749 hours in the KMC over a 12-month period.

The President’s Volunteer Service Award recognizes individuals, groups and families who have “answered that call,” said Master Sgt. Gerarado Amezola, club president.

“America’s volunteers work to make our communities stronger and safer,” he said. “As a Certifying Organization for the Award program, the Mexican American Social Club is proud to be aligned with this prestigious volunteer award, and we are especially proud of our volunteers who have made volunteer service a central part of their lives.”

“These recipients of the President’s Volunteer Service Award are role models for all Americans,” said Tech. Sgt. Michael Peña, club volunteer director. “Each volunteer hour contributed makes a difference in improving the quality of life for others, and I encourage everyone to contribute to our community by volunteering.”
