The 86th Tactical Fighter Wing was based at Zweibrücken Air Base from 1969 to 1973. It swapped locations with the 26th Tactical Reconnaissance Wing as part of “Creek Action” and returned to Ramstein Air Base Jan. 31, 1973, to become the base’s operating unit flying F-4Es.
