The “SKY BLAZERS” Jet Acrobatic Team flew F-84E Thunderjets at Landstuhl Air Base during their first official Air Show Jan. 9, 1953.
The Sky Blazers were formed in 1949 at Fürstenfeldbruck, Germany, with the 36th Fighter Wing F-80B Shooting Stars aircraft. The 86th Fighter Wing took over responsibility for the Sky Blazers team in 1952 and performed and flew F-84E Thunderjets. Sky Blazers’ aerial performances lasted approximately 13 minutes.
