How to sign up for the KMC volunteer programs

Volunteers in the KMC should register with programs from the 435th Services Squadron’s Ramstein Family Support Center and the 415th Base Support Battalion’s Army Community Service.
Catherine Locke is the installation volunteer coordinator for the 415th BSB, and Stacey Crosson is 435th Services Squadron’s volunteer resource program manager.
Both volunteer managers said that it is important to register because it helps them to track how many volunteer hours are contributed to the various projects in the community so they can let the command group know how many hours it takes to make projects happen.
Volunteer hours are also tracked by both programs for their Volunteer of the Year awards.
The ACS program chooses a Volunteer of the Year and Volunteer Champions.
The FSC chooses a Volunteer of the Year for five categories: Outstanding Individual; Volunteer Excellence Award for lifetime achievement; Exceptional Youth Volunteer of the Year; Outstanding Squadron for Volunteer Support; and, Outstanding Volunteer Organization.
The FSC also has a Youth Employment Skills program, which is an on-base youth volunteer program funded by Air Force Aid Society.
YES offers high school aged dependents of active duty Air Force members the opportunity to learn work skills, earn money toward college and have a positive impact on their community.
For both volunteer coordinators, it is not important which programs people sign up with as long as they get connected to volunteering in the KMC.
However, this does not apply to the Hidden Heroes program. The operating instructions for Hidden Heroes states that Air Force active duty and Department of Defense civilians, and their family members fill out the Air Force Form 2805.
