This year’s Rheinland-Pfalz Tag, or Rheinland-Pfalz State Fair, will take place June 1 to 3 in Ingelheim/Rhein. For the 29th time, cities and union communities of the state of Rheinland-Pfalz, charity organizations, military forces and aid organizations will participate in the fair to demonstrate who they are and what they have to offer.

Entertainment programs with live music, dance performances, presentations and displays will be offered on 11 stages and various other event locations with more than 300 stands.

The fair includes a market of cities and counties featuring arts and crafts stands, tourist information, regional food specialties and wines; a farmers market offering ecological products; activity areas for international military forces and rescue and relief services; and play areas for children.

“Ingelheim is a tolerant city, where people from all over the world feel at home,” said Lord Mayor Ralf Claus at a recent press conference. “I’m looking forward to three days of good entertainment, presentations by people and interesting information.”

Red Wine Queen Julia II, her princesses Amy and Katja, and the Ingelheim choirs will start the state fair at 3 p.m. June 1 on the stage at Winzerkeller. The minister president of Rheinland-Pfalz, Kurt Beck, and Ingelheim’s lord mayor will
officially open the event at 6 p.m. from the RPR 1 stage.

Several musicians will then perform. Highlights will be Brass Machine, Glasperlenspiel and Stefanie Heinzmann. Other bands and singers presenting various music styles will perform on the other stages until about 12:30 a.m. June 2.

“We are looking forward to a great state fair. Ingelheim will turn into an attractive fest area and present its historical sites as well as its new city center.”

Traditionally, Beck sponsors a military reception for selected junior Soldiers and Airmen and members of the German Bundeswehr in the afternoon of the first day of the state fair.

The following airmen 1st class will attend: Glen Dredden, 1st Combat Communications Squadron; Anthony Dann, 435th Construction and Training Squadron; Spencer Lowen, 86th Munitions Squadron; Frederick Leary, 86th Operations Support Squadron; Joshua Peckham, 86th Comptroller Squadron; and Senior Airman Boanerge Connor, 4th Air Support Operations Squadron (alternate A1C Andres Cook).

From the 521st Air Mobility Operations Wing, there will be Airmen 1st class Vanessa Torrez, Felicia Ryder and Kaleem Murff. The Army will send Sgts. James Rundel and Justin Lemon, and Spcs. Susan Choi and Jordan Page, 5th Quartermasters, as well as Dominik Leitsbach, Tim Vigilante, Marvin Roth and Walter Fraenzel from the Theater Logistics Support Center-Europe.

The parking lot of Kaiserpfalz-Realschule will turn into a military camp, where all participating military forces will present their work and display their equipment.
The Air Force will be represented by several squadrons. The 435th Air and Space Communications Group will present communications equipment and a satellite dish; the 86th Civil Engineer Group will come with a fire truck and Sparky; the 86th Security Forces Squadron will be available with a set of security forces gear and two vehicles; and the 435th Contingency Response Group will present a dummy with uniform, tactical gear and a medical display.

The Army side of the KMC will send the 21st Theater Sustainment Command to present its TLSC-E apprenticeship program, the 5th QM riggers to demonstrate rigging operations, parachute packing procedures and airdrop capabilities, and the 773rd Civil Support Team to display emergency response equipment.

A farmers and organic market will be set up on Binger Strasse. More than 30 farmers and vintners will present their agricultural products and wines. The market of cities and counties will show the area’s cultural, economical and culinary diversity. There will be craftsmanship stands, arts displays and tourist information booths.

Rescue and relief services, including federal and state police, can be found on parking lot “Neue Mitte.”

On June 2, the entertaining program on the stages will start at 10 a.m. with presentations by German army bands, regional music groups and dance groups. Renowned bands performing at night will be From Da Soul, Elliot and Die Dicken Kinder.

Highlight of the last event day, June 3, will be the fest parade with about 3,000 participants from 1 to 4 p.m.

Every community will take part with either a float, a band or a walking group. The KMC will send the U.S. Air Forces in Europe Marching Band.

The 29th Rheinland-Pfalz State Fair will close out with a fireworks display at 10:30 p.m. June 3.

Organizers expect more than 300,000 visitors to visit Ingelheim, which is known as the red wine town. The next Rheinland-Pfalz State Fair is scheduled to take place June 21 to 23 in Pirmasens.
