K-Town Kingfish make splash in Stuttgart


***image1***The Kaiserslautern Kingfish Swim Team brought home two first-place wins and finished in second-place in the medley relay at a meet in Stuttgart Oct. 20.

The meet, hosted by the Stuttgart Piranhas, brought in the Heidelberg Sea Lions, the Hohenfels Hurricanes and the Bamberg Aqua Barons.

The Kingfish stayed focused and continued to swim tough throughout the meet winning many of the individual events as well.  The following swimmers dominated the pool finishing first in each individual event entered:  Danielle Davis, 8, Tessla Barnes, 11, Emily Gage, 13, Lilly Thomas,13,  Lucas Cummin, 14, Drew Thomas,15, and Alyssa Cummin,16.  “This is a building season for the Kingfish and even though we are 3 and 0 on full team competitions, the league has gotten faster and more competitive,” said coach Bob Clinton. “Last year, the Kingfish were winning by significant margins, but this season the gap has closed significantly, and that’s not such a bad thing.”

 The 15 to 19-year-old freestyle relay teams finishing in first and second place brought the swimmers day of hard work and competition to an end.

The Kingfish Team finished first overall with a total of 926 points. The Kingfish head to the next meet Nov. 3 in their home pool at Baumholder.
