Skaters have fun at the ice-skating rink in the event hall of the Kaiserslautern Gartenschau. The rink will be open from Nov. 22 to Feb. 16.

Kaiserslautern starts its ice-skating season Nov. 22. The winter wonderland for ice skaters under the theme “Kaiserslautern on Ice” can be found in the event hall at the Gartenschau area through Feb. 16.

During the official opening by the chief of the Kaiserslautern Youth and Sports Department, Willi Gillmann,  and Gartenschau Queen Jessica Kehl at 6 p.m. Nov. 22, visitors can enjoy a little show on ice. Then, ice-skaters can test the rink for a reduced price of €2.

Throughout the skating season, a diversified program will be offered.

Santa Claus on ice will make his appearance and pass out gifts to children Dec. 6, when Germany observes “Nikolaustag.”
Every Friday afternoon, inexperienced skaters under 14 can make their first steps on the ice with a licensed instructor. The skating rink also offers training aids for beginners for €2 per hour.

Those who don’t have their own ice skates can rent some for €3.50. Skate sharpening is also offered.

Family Day will be held starting at 1 p.m. every Wednesday. Admission will be reduced to €2.50 for adults and €2 for children.
To warm up those cold fingers, rest the feet and take a break, visitors can sit down in the restaurant area next to the ice and watch the events on the rink.

Daily skating hours are from 9 a.m. to noon, 1 to 3 p.m., 4 to 6 p.m., and 7 to 9 p.m. On Friday and Saturday nights, the rink stays open until 10 p.m. School classes that want to spend their field trip or sports lesson on the mobile ice-skating rink can register and agree on different skating times. For details and registration, call 0631-7100765. There is also the opportunity to celebrate children’s birthdays or organize ice curling tournaments. Admission is €2.50 for children and €3.50 for adults.
