Kaiserslautern welcomes spring with special activities

***image1***The World Cup City of Kaiserslautern sponsors an activity day under the motto “Kaiserslautern comes into blossom” 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Lautern’s World Cup grandma, Elsa, will give out primroses in front of Stiftskirche and inspire people to participate in different activities in various locations. World Cup coordinator Erwin Saile puts the emphasis on the “wake of spring” in the city. “The more people take part in decorating their balconies, front gardens and windows, the better visitors will remember Kaiserslautern,” Mr. Saile said.

For several years the advertising association “Kaiser in Lautern” organizes “Kaiserslautern comes into blossom” with various actions, information and activity stands. The city garden shop puts up an Easter tree on Kerststrasse. Children from local kindergartens created about 200 ornaments for the tree. The Easter ornaments are made in the colors of the participating World Cup countries.

The World Cup office Kaiserslautern and the garden fair company are available with information stands on Altenhof. The Kaiserslautern Zoo has a petting zoo in front of Stiftskirche.

Companies and stores lure visitors with attractive games and activities. Car enthusiasts can look forward to the historical Volkswagen meeting with about 20 vehicles on Schillerplatz.
Another highlight is the street music competition sponsored by Emmerich-Smola-Music School. Several ensembles perform on various squares and the walkplatz.

Children can enjoy face painting, air balloons, a jumping castle, trampoline and the possibility to do handicrafts in Fackelstrasse. They also can take their rounds on a fairy tale merry-go-round in front of Stiftskirche.
