Closures

• In an effort to better serve the beneficiaries of the 86th Medical Group, the following is a forecast of clinic closures due to U.S. holidays and mandatory training days: Monday (Labor Day); Wednesday (Resiliency Day); Oct. 8 (MDG training day); Oct. 15 (Columbus Day); Nov. 11 (Veterans Day); Nov. 12 (MDG training day, closed from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.); Nov. 26 (Thanksgiving); Nov. 27 (Family Day); Dec. 10 (MDG training Day, closed from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.); Dec. 24 (Christmas Eve); Dec. 25 (Christmas); and Dec. 31 (New Year’s Eve). This forecast will be amended when applicable. As the clinic improves its processes, they welcome customers’ feedback. To provide feedback, contact Maj. • The 86th Airlift Wing Legal Office’s German/International Law section will be closed today for the Host Nation Advisors Conference and Monday for Labor Day. Their regularly scheduled services will resume Tuesday. All other legal services will be available during this time.

• The KMC Housing Office and the Furnishings Management Office will be closed Monday in observation of the holiday.

• The 86th Munitions Squadron will conduct a 100 percent munitions stockpile inventory
Monday to Sept. 11. During this time, the munitions storage area will be closed to all account custodians. Only emergency issue requests approved by the respective group commander may be submitted.

• The Ramstein Clinic will forecast a closure on Thursday for a training day.

• The KMC Housing Office and the Furnishings Management Office will be closed Sept. 18 for an office function.

• The KMC Housing Office will close at 11:30 a.m. Sept. 24 and the Furnishings Management Office will be closed Sept. 24 all day due to training.

• The exit for Pirmasens (A62) coming from A6 heading toward Saarbruecken will be closed until Sept. 16. To reach Landstuhl Regional Medical Center from A6 there are two options:

First option: Take the Landstuhl Ost exit (exit 13) to downtown Landstuhl. From downtown Landstuhl on the main street, Kaiserstrasse, follow the white signs for U.S. Hospital and other signs for Bann, Mittelbrunn and Burg Nanstein. The U.S. Hospital signs will guide motorists toward signs for Gate 3 and Dr. Hitzelberger Strasse.

Second option: Take the A62 exit toward Trier, then take the first exit, Huetschenhausen, and get back on A62 in the other direction toward Pirmasens.

Coming from Ramstein Air Base, motorists can take the back road toward Huetschenhausen and get on A62 in the direction for Pirmasens.

Run against cancer, name mascot

A Rheinland-Pfalz cancer association, Mom/Dad has Cancer, will sponsor its 10th anniversary charity run Sunday in Kaiserslautern. The 10 km and 5 km run and walk against cancer will start at Schulzentrum Sued, Im Stadtwald 2, 67663 Kaiserslautern. A 1,000 m children’s run will start at 9:45 a.m. Fees are €5 to be paid in cash on the day of the run. Participants can register the day of the run starting at 8 a.m. or by visiting www.fck-running.de and clicking on “Lautrer Lebenslauf.” Also, the association is looking for a name for its mascot. 9/11 remembrance ceremony

A 9/11 remembrance ceremony will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sept. 11 at the 86th Airlift Wing headquarters’ flagpoles. The ceremony will consist of a retreat and a wreath-laying ceremony. Attire is uniform of the day.

Blood drive at KMCC

The Convoy Warrior Association and the Armed Services Blood Program will host a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sept. 14 at the KMCC food court. This is a great opportunity for service members, family members, retirees and Department of Defense civilians to donate blood that goes directly back to the community. POW/MIA recognition week

The 435th Air Ground Operations Wing will host National POW/MIA Recognition Week Sept. 14 to 18. Team Ramstein members will be given the opportunity to run a 5K memorial run, hear guest speaker Dr. Joseph Milligan’s stories of extraordinary determination during the luncheon and reflect on and remember our nation’s POW/MIAs during a wreath-laying ceremony. Bazaar volunteers needed

The Ramstein Officers’ Spouses Club will sponsor its 51st Ramstein Bazaar Sept. 17 to 20 in hangars 1 and 2 on Ramstein. Volunteers are needed for working hangar set-up, in hospitality or finance. Descriptions for each time slot are detailed on the sign-up pages. CSAF Reading List PDS

The Kisling NCO Academy will host a Chief of Staff of the Air Force Reading List Professional Development Seminar Oct. 8. There will be six different books and movies to select from throughout the morning and afternoon sessions. Focus will be on the CSAF Reading List because each selection for 2015 tells an important story about the Profession of Arms and Air Force core values. Attendees are encouraged to read or watch the book or movie prior to attending the PDS. Groups will break out into discussion to focus on particular segments of the story or movie.
