The KMC’s Kingfish swim team took the lead during the 2010 Long Distance Championships hosted in Lignano, Italy. The swimmers were thrilled to compete and held nothing back during the two days of competition. Many records fell resulting in seven Kingfish swimmers obtaining the long distance records, which culminated in 25 medals: 13 gold, six silver and six bronze.

In the 1500 meter, Danielle Davis, 11, stood out with a time of 22:05.03, breezing by Sigonella Swordfish’s 2009 Long Distance 1500 meter record holder Greta Kinsey’s 22:10.22 time.

Danielle, who set a new EFSL league record in the 11-year-old girls’ 1500 meter freestyle, said, “I have been swimming with the Kingfish swim team since I was
5 years old. I get up at 5 a.m. so I can attend the 6 a.m. practice with the senior varsity squad. I try to do my best at each practice and just love the sport.”
