Roads closed in Ramstein

During the Rheinland-Pfalz State fair, the roads in the center of Ramstein-Miesenbach will be closed to motorized traffic today through Monday. Also, county road L356 along the southern and eastern side of Ramstein-Miesenbach will be closed from 11 a.m. today to 10 p.m. Sunday.

Traffic impact

The intersection at Maxwell and Kisling Memorial Avenues (where Burger King is located) will be under construction July 6 to 10. The intersection will be reconfigured to improve safety and traffic flow during the construction. Kisling Traffic Northbound (towards military family housing, CDC):  No left turn is allowed. Kisling Traffic Eastbound (towards East Gate):  No changes. Kisling Traffic Westbound (towards West Gate):  No changes. Maxwell Northbound (towards MFH):  Only one lane is open for left turn onto Kisling towards West Gate. For details, call the 786th Civil Engineer Squadron at 480-3599.

City hall closed during state fair

The city hall and city works in Ramstein-Miesenbach will be closed today for the state fair. The 24-hour fault clearance service for network area disturbances of water, gas, electricity and broadband supply will be available at 06371-70710.

Travel medicine study

Service members who are deploying for a time frame of up to six months may be eligible to take part in a travel medicine study. The purpose of the research is to learn about travel-related infectious disease threats and evaluate current and new risk reduction strategies. Compensation may be provided for participation in accordance with Department of Defense regulations. Participation is voluntary and confidential. VA benefits

In the months of June and July, Veteran Affairs Overseas Military Service coordinators will be at Ramstein, A&FRC in Bldg. 2120, on Kleber Kaserne in Bldg. 3205, and at Smith Barracks in Baumholder to meet with active-duty servicemembers, veterans and family members to answer questions pertaining to VA benefits. Honor Guard needs members

The Ramstein Honor Guard is in need of sharp E-1s to E-6s. Anybody interested should contact Tech. Sgt. Henry Lopez at 480-5980/5986 or join training from 2 to 5 p.m. Wednesdays in Bldg. 2010 on Ramstein.

Closures

• The 86th Medical Group’s Ramstein
Clinic will be closed on the following U.S. holidays and mandatory training days: July 3, 6, and 9
(7 a.m. to 1 p.m.); Aug. 13 (7 a.m. to 1 p.m.); and Sept. 10 all day. As the clinic improves its processes, it welcomes customer feedback. To provide feedback, call Maj. Janelle Quinn, 86th MDG group practice manager, at

• The KMC Housing Office and the Furnishings Management Office will be closed July 3 in observation of Independance Day. Customer service hours will resume July 6.

Sales in housing

Yard and garage sales in family housing are permitted on Saturdays only. Parking issues and disturbance to neighbors are reasons to terminate sales. Residents may not use signs to advertise sales anywhere within the KMC housing areas. For details, call Karen Carbon at 489-7108.

Retirees’ updated information

The 86th Airlift Wing Retiree Activities Office has been receiving large amounts of email rejects from its retiree contact list. Retirees who changed their email address since they initially registered with RAO should email 86aw.rao@us.af.mil with updated information, or call 480-5486 or

Change in shuttle times

Effective July 13, bus shuttle times will change. Shuttles will run from 7 a.m. to noon and 3 to 5 p.m.

Laundry, dry cleaning issue

Currently, the Vogelweh laundry and dry cleaning facility has consolidated operations over to the Kaiserslautern Military Community Center on Ramstein. All other locations are still operating but are not accepting clothing for rocessed items can be picked up during limited hours of operation between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the respective locations. AAFES and installation agencies are aggressively working a solution to assist customers in offering full service capabilities for their dry cleaning needs.

Blood drive

The American Red Cross and 83rd NOS Det 4 will sponsor a community blood drive from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday in the Heaton Auditorium at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center.

Deutsches Haus

The Deutsches Haus restaurant on Ramstein run by German Armed Forces offers lunch 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and dinner from 5 to 9 p.m. Visit www.deutscheshausramstein.de and find out about the menu, reservations and special events.
