The U.S. Consulate in Frankfurt and the Ramstein and U.S. Army Garrison Rheinland-Pfalz Passport Offices are scheduled to host a Passport Outreach Day Oct. 24, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at building 2402 on Ramstein Air Base. Your local USO will also be there to support the event by serving refreshments.

This event will serve as an outreach to provide the Kaiserslautern and Baumholder Military Communities with expedited service for passport applications prior to the holidays. Consulate representatives will be on-site to accept tourist passport and consular report of birth-abroad applications. Representatives from the Federal Benefits Unit and Immigrant Visa Section will also be available to answer questions related to social security and immigrant visas.

The Ramstein and USAG Rheinland-Pfalz Passport Offices have detailed checklists for tourist passports and reports of birth-abroad on their web sites to aid in filling out applications prior to the event.

For access to these documents, please go to: http://www.ramstein.af.mil/About-Us/Fact-Sheets/Display/Article/303618/passports-id-cards (Air Force personnel) or http://www.rp.army.mil/directorates/hr.htm and click on “Passports” (Army personnel).

The fee for a report of birth and tourist passport for a child is $215. A tourist passport renewal for an adult is $110, and a tourist passport renewal for a minor under 16 is $115. Anyone over the age of 16 applying for the first time or replacing a lost adult passport must pay $145. Payment is due with the application and must be paid by money order or cashier check only (one for each application).

All services will be available on a walk-in basis, with the exception of birth registrations. Please contact your servicing passport office to have your newborn’s documents reviewed and to schedule an appointment for birth registration. We are unable to accept birth registrations from walk-in customers who did not schedule an appointment at this event.

To process applications quickly, passport officials ask that clients come prepared with all original documents in order, copies of the documents and money order(s) or cashier check(s). On-site passport photo support will not be available this time; please obtain photos prior to the event. The MOMS Photo Lab at Ramstein is offering early opening hours (7 a.m.) on Oct. 23 and 24 to provide passport photo support for the event. Please remember, the wear of eye glasses in passport photos is no longer permitted.

Money orders to cover passport fees can be purchased by military ID card holders at the Ramstein Northside Post Office (cash or debit card only) or at servicing banking facilities prior to or on Outreach Day (on-site service is not available). Please be advised that tourist passports must be turned in for cancellation and will be returned with the newly issued passport.

The Ramstein, Kaisers-lautern, and Baumholder Passport Offices will be closed on Oct. 24 and will reopen for regular service on Oct. 25.
