Landstuhl will celebrate its traditional city fest today through Sunday.
The annual event, sponsored by the sales promotion association of the city of Landstuhl, will feature a musical program, car show, children’s activities, food specialties and Sunday shopping.

A variety of 16 bands, two music associations and two dance formations will perform on three stages: in front of the VR bank, on Alter Markt and near the Rathaus.

Well-known bands, such as Elliot, Teamwork, Rockdocs, Funkyfize, From da Soul, Donovans’ Heartbeat and others will entertain the audience. The U.S. Air Forces in Europe band Wings of Dixie will play from 7 to 9 p.m. today from the stage at Alter Markt.

Local car dealers will present the latest models behind and in front of Stadthalle and a carnival with several rides will be set up around the Stadthalle. Hungry visitors can taste a wide range of food specialties in gourmet tents throughout the fest.

On Sunday, event activities will begin at 11 a.m. with a traditional “frühschoppen,” or early beer get-together.

After the frühschoppen, a youth dance group will show its talents from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., then an Irish dance group will entertain the audience from 2:30 to 4:30. Stores will be open from 1 to 6 p.m. A fireworks display will close out the city fest around 10 p.m.

Officials ask that visitors buy the city fest wristband for €2 to help finance the cultural event.

Some streets will be closed to traffic. Follow the detour signs. For more information, visit www.foerdergemeinschaft-landstuhl.de or www.gaco-kl.de.
