***image1***The second medieval market takes place on Lichtenberg Castle Saturday and Sunday.

Participants in medieval costumes will revive the Middle Ages. They will show how people used to live and work. Knights will demonstrate show fights in their camps. Craftsmen will present former skills and vendors will be available with merchandise from earlier times.

The stands and tents will be set up like in medieval times. The food will be from the region; there will be no fast food. Several stands will serve culinary specialties and beverages from former times.

Jugglers and fire-eaters will entertain visitors and music groups will perform medieval music on unique instruments. Visitors can test archery and crossbow shooting.
Marksmen officially start the medieval market with 12 cannon shoots at 2 p.m. Saturday. Sunday, the event starts at 10 a.m.

The admission fee is €5 for adults and €3 for adults in medieval costumes. Children shorter than a sword (1.20 meters) will be admitted free.

A free bus shuttle will take visitors from the train station in Kusel and from IWS in Schwarzerden up to the castle. Look for the P+R signs to get to the park and ride parking lots. Also, the shuttle buses can be boarded at every bus station.

Lichtenberg Castle is one of the most impressive castle complexes. With a length of 423 meters, it is one of the biggest castles in Germany. It was built in the 12th century and the basics are well preserved.
