Events

A Christmas tree market will offer various kinds of trees from different German regions today through Dec. 23 at the Messeplatz fairgrounds in Kaiserslautern. Hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Some forestry offices offer special tree cutting and selling dates:

The Donnersberg forestry office scheduled two events: 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at 67722 Höringen (direction Wackenbornerhof), and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. near Retzbergweiher (pond) at 67677 Sippersfeld. Gluehwein, children’s punch and game bratwurst will be served.

The Otterberg forestry office in Otterstrasse 47 will sell trees 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday. Visitors get to drink gluewein and taste food specialties.

A tree selling event is scheduled to take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday in Landstuhl’s Breitenwald, near the U.S. radar station on county road L470. Customers can choose freshly-cut trees from the Landstuhl and Kaiserslautern forest areas. Gluehwein, punch and game specialties will be offered.

The Kaiserslautern forestry office will offer tree cutting near the Stiftswald forest house in Velmanstrasse, from 1 to 4 p.m. Dec. 22.  Food and beverages will be available.

Guided tours of the Abbey Church in Otterberg, in German, will be offered the first Sunday of each month. Interested participants will meet at 2:30 p.m. at the main entrance of the church. The one-hour-long tour costs €3.

The old smithy in Otterberg, Kirchstrasse, will be open to the public at 4 p.m. every first Saturday of the month. Admission is free.

The museum in Otterberg, which is located in the tourist information office, Hauptstrasse 54, is open during 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mondays to Fridays, and 3 to 5 p.m. Sundays. Admission is free.

KMC Onstage

Seussical: If you love Dr. Seuss, you’ll love this fantastical family musical that is based on his books, including favorites like “Horton Hears a Who!”, “Horton Hatches the Egg” and “Miss Gertrude McFuzz.” Evening performance dates are today, Saturday and Jan. 5, 6, 12 and 13 at 7 p.m. Sundays matinees offered Sunday and Jan. 7 and 14 at 3 p.m. Tickets are $10 to $15 for adults and $7 to $12 for children and seniors, depending on seat selection. Armstrong’s Club Events

New Year’s Eve Party: On Dec. 31, celebrate the New Year at Armstrong’s Club! Evening will include a live DJ, party favors, appetizers and champagne! Ugly Sweater Party: On Dec. 23, from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m., celebrate the holidays at Armstrong’s Club in your ugliest sweater for a chance to win some cash. A $150 cash prize will be awarded to the most spectacular sweater. Dance the night away to a live DJ mixing the best music of the holidays with popular hits. Enjoy holiday drink specials, with other food and beverages available for purchase.

A Taste of Germany: 5 p.m. every Monday at Castello’s Snack Bar inside Armstrong’s Club. Indulge in traditional and delicious German meals for $5 per plate. The meals vary each week; menus are available at www.kaiserslautern.armymwr.com.

Women and Wine: 6 to 10 p.m. the first and third Monday of every month. This get together allows women to make friends and form a social network in a fun environment. Food and beverages available for purchase.

Trivia Wednesdays: 7 to 10 p.m. every Wednesday.

Karaoke Fridays: 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. every Friday. Show off your singing skills and socialize in a fun environment.

Latin Saturdays: 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. every first and third Saturday of the month.

Kazabra Club Events

Holiday Bingo: On Dec. 17, Kazabra Club invites you to end your year with a little Holiday cheer! Come out for an afternoon of fun, prizes and holiday goodies. $75 per pack. Doors open at 1 p.m. Games begin at 3 p.m. Be sure to bring 2 friends for a free add-on pack ($25 value).

Midnight Rodeo: On Dec. 31, put your boots on and party like a true cowboy/cowgirl at Germany’s biggest country-themed New Year’s Eve! Line dance the night away as we say good-bye to 2017 and ring in the New Year at Kazabra Club. Evening will include a variety of country and western music, free bull rides, balloons and confetti, party favors, door prizes, a fingerfood buffet and champagne at midnight. Grab your friends and join us for the second annual Midnight Rodeo! 8 p.m. No registration required. $12 cover.

Cards Against Humanity Game Night: Join the Kazabra Club for a new monthly event – Cards Against Humanity Game Night! This event will be held on the last Friday of each month. Bring your friends and come out for a game of Cards Against Humanity. Kazabra Club will supply the cards and have plenty of beverages available for purchase during this “party in a box”. No cover.

New and Improved Texas Hold’em Tournament: Beginning Jan. 5, Kazabra Club will host a new and improved Texas Hold’em every Friday night from 8 p.m.-midnight! $50 buy in for a freeze out game. Buy in once and play until you bust! Registration opens at 7 p.m., game begins at 8 p.m. Register by 7:45 p.m. for an extra $500 chip. And don’t forget to wear your Limited Edition Kazabra Club shirt for another $500 chip. Minimum player requirements must be met for tournament to take place.

Country Night: 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. Saturdays. There is a $5 cover charge.

Country and Western Dance Classes: 7:30 p.m. the first Saturday of every month. No cover charge.

Sunday Bingo: 3 p.m. every Sunday. Doors open at 1 p.m. Bingo packs start at $30. Prizes will be based upon participation. Play the progressive game for a chance to win up to $5,000.

Support Groups

Single Parent Support Group meets from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. the first and third Thursday of every month. Join Family Advocacy Program for this educational class to examine services and tools that will aid in successful parenting. Feel free to bring a lunch. Meetings

The Kaiserslautern-West Pfalz Ski Club meets 6:30 to 8 p.m. the first and third Wednesday of each month at the Bistorante Paradox in Ramstein-Miesenbach.

The Tannenbaum Ski Club meets 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. the first and third Wednesday of each month, at the Belgian Club, Bldg. 308 on Ramstein Air Base.

Ramstein Toastmasters will meet every first, second and third Tuesday of the month from noon to 1 p.m. at the Ramstein South Chapel, Bldg. 2403. Individuals who want to develop their public speaking skills, are welcome to visit the meetings free of charge. Participants can prepare for board interviews, promotional ceremonies or leadership roles. Public speaking skills or aspirations can be advanced and enhanced. Strikers Bowling Center New Year’s Eve Party: If you’re looking for a bowl-a-rific celebration this New Year’s Eve, Strikers Bowling Center is the perfect spot! On Dec. 31, ring in the new year with cosmic bowling, music and socializing with friends and family. All ages are welcome, and food and drinks are available for purchase. Baumholder Indoor Flea Market and Craft Fair: Clean out your closet and sell your treasures at the Baumholder Indoor Flea Market and Craft Fair!
