Events

» A wine expo sponsored by Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation and the Exchange will be held from 6 to 10 p.m.

today and 2 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Armstrong’s Club on Vogelweh, Bldg. 1036. Wines from all over the world will be available for tasting along with fine foods. A full wine shop will be set up with all of the wines that are available for sampling. Wine seminars will be held each day of the expo for those interested in learning more about the wine before making a purchase. You will also receive a commemorative wine glass to take home. Open to all ID cardholders and their guests, ages 18 and older.

Cost: $34.95 per person, per day; $60 per person for a two-day pass. Purchase a ticket online via WebTrac, at Armstrong’s Club from 5 to 10 p.m. daily, at the Pulaski Express, or at any Java Cafe in the KMC. Tickets may also be purchased at the door, if space permits. » The 82nd Airborne “All American” Jeep Group Historical Society invites KMC members to participate at the 34th edition of their yearly winter march, “In the Footsteps of the 82nd Airborne Division,” Saturday in Malempre, Belgium. This year will follow the steps of the 325th Glider Infantry Regiment of the 82nd Airborne Division. The march will start at 9:30 a.m. at 12 Rue derriere la tour, 6960 Malempre. Participants must register upon arrival for a fee of €6, which covers logistic support, a hot soup at lunch, a souvenir certificate, hot wine at the end of the march, insurance and other services. » Asian and antique furniture auction sponsored by the Ramstein Elementary School Parent Teacher Association will take place March 5 in the RES gym, Bldg. 996. A silent auction of approximately 100 different items will kick off this unique event at 10 a.m. Bidding will begin on the other items at 11 a.m. and run until everything is sold. This event is open to all ID cardholders. For safety reasons, this is an adult only event. Items for auction include Asian furniture, lamps, hand-tied rugs, screens and other decorative porcelain pieces from Asia and Tibet. All payment must be made in U.S. dollars, checks, money orders or credit cards. The proceeds will go to the RES-PTA to support school activities and enrichment programs benefitting all RES students.

Support Groups

» A 13-week grief share program is being sponsored by the LRMC Chaplain’s Office. If you’ve lost someone close to you or know someone who has, this program is for you. Grief Share is a support group where you can be around people who understand how you feel and the pain of your loss. The spring series begins at 6:30 p.m. March 15. » The Rheinland-Pfalz Quilt Guild will have its monthly meeting at 5 p.m. today at Ramstein Middle School. The evening will include a “Stitch ‘n’ Gab” and a demonstration of different ideas for quilting with jelly rolls. There will also be a potluck, and members are encouraged to bring their machines to sew.

Classes and Training

» Sponsorship training will take place from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at Landstuhl Learning Center, Bldg. 3718. This course will help you fulfill the role as a sponsor for incoming personnel. Units sending students to training are required to pre-register with Army Community Service to ensure that a unit-specific sign-in roster is available. This training is open to Soldiers, civilians and spouses who will act as sponsors. For more information and to enroll, call

» Commanders and senior leaders training is from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m the first Thursday of every month. This training is a mandatory requirement within 45 days of assumption of command for all commanders and senior enlisted advisers, E7-E9. Receive information on the Family Advocacy Program, the Exceptional Family Member Program and the Army Emergency Relief Program. Participants will receive a certificate upon completion. » Baumholder Library will host a craft-making event for women and girls, ages 5 and older, in honor of Women’s History Month and National Craft Month.
