Events

» A German-American friendship fest will take place Saturday through Sunday on Campbell Barracks, Roemerstrasse in Heidelberg. The event features rides, games, music and food specialties.

» The Erlenbach fire department will celebrate its 135th anniversary Saturday night and Sunday near Theo-Barth-Halle. A rock concert with Fused will start at 8 p.m. Saturday. On Sunday, activities will include presentations by the youth fire brigade and local school, fire shows, dog demonstrations and water fun from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

» Sunday is International Museum Day. The Museum Pfalzgalerie in Kaiserslautern will offer a guided tour in English through its special exhibition of Palatinate landscapes at 2 p.m. Admission is free. For details, visit www.mpk.de.

» A group motorcycle ride sponsored by the MC Fire Wings, a firefighter motorcycle group, will start at 10 a.m. Sunday. The ride will be to Geierlay Bridge, Germany’s largest rope bridge. The meeting point will be the big parking lot at the intersection to Ramstein’s West Gate. The total ride distance is 230K and will end back at Ramstein at 6:00 pm. All bikers are welcome to join.

» A fest of the national park region to celebrate one year of Nationalpark Hunsrueck-Hochwald and 100 years of national park service will take place from 10 a.m. to midnight Thursday in the town of Schwollen, west of Idar-Oberstein. A full-day program will be offered at the local Sportplatz. The U.S. Army Europe Band will perform from noon to 2 p.m., and the U.S. Air Forces in Europe Band will play from 4 to 6 p.m. A fireworks display is scheduled for 10 p.m. For details, visit www.freundeskreisnationalparkhunsrueck.de.

» The spring-summer Special Olympics will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 3 at the Southside Fitness Center track and field on Ramstein. The Special Olympics is an international program of athletic competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. The event holds a variety of Olympic-type sporting events, giving all participants the opportunity to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage and experience the joy by participating in events with other Special Olympic athletes in the community. Come out and support the 80 to 150 suspected competing participants.

» Shop until you drop at the Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation Summer Bazaar June 3 through 5. The bazaar features a large variety of European vendors selling treasures, paintings, jewelry, wine and much more. Food and beverages will be available on site. Times and dates: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. June 3; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. June 4; and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 5 at the Special Events Center on Rhine Ordnance Barracks, Bldg. 237. » KMC Onstage presents “Avenue Q”: A special opening night gala performance will take place at 8 p.m. today. Cost: $22 for adults and $20 for seniors and students. Regular show dates: 7:30 p.m Saturday and June, 3, 4, 10 and 11; and 3 p.m. June 5 and 12. Cost: $12 for adults and $10 for students and seniors. This musical is rated for mature audiences only.

Armstrong’s Club Events

» Comedy show: June 18. Come out to Armstrong’s Club for a night of fun and laughter at the comedy show. This event will feature host Lee Marvin Adams and comedians Jason Thompson and Munchie. Doors open at 7 p.m., and the show begins at 9 p.m. Cost: $20 in advance, $25 at the door. Purchase tickets in advance at Armstrong’s Club, any Java Cafe in the KMC or online via WebTrac.

» Armed Forces Appreciation Day party: 9 p.m. Saturday. In honor of Armed Forces Appreciation Day, the club will host a special celebration. Put on your cowboy boots and come to Kazabra Club for a special night. The event will feature a live DJ playing the best country hits, hot dogs until midnight or while supplies last, raffles, games and $1 bull rides. No cover charge before midnight.

» Father’s Day Bingo: June 19. Celebrate Father’s Day at the Father’s Day Bingo event with appetizers, games and opportunities to win cash. Doors open at 1 p.m. Games begin at 3 p.m. Bingo packs start at $30.

Classes and Training

» Sponsorship training will be held From 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Monday at Landstuhl Learning Center, Bldg. 3718. This course will help you fulfill the role as a sponsor for incoming personnel. Units sending student to training are required to preregister with Army Community Service to ensure that a unit-specific sign-in roster is available. » Dads 101: A Crash Course for New and Expecting Dads meets from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. the third Tuesday of every month at the Yellow Ribbon Room on Pulaski Barracks, Bldg. 2926. Topics include preparing for fatherhood, surviving the first few weeks, caring for your new baby, ways to keep your baby safe and more.
