» The German kindergarten, Villa Winzig in Dansenberg, is looking for German and American families with children between ages 2 and 7 to join a play afternoon from 4 to 6 p.m. Sept. 22 and meet new people in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. » An Operation Rising Star local competition round will take place at 7 p.m. on Sept. 25 at Armstrong’s Club. Contestants are judged by a panel of judges and the audience. Cash prizes will be awarded to first, second and third place competitors, and a cash spirit award will be given to the most supportive unit or family readiness group. Sign-up no later than today. No fee to participate. Winning couple receives $200; Oct. 17: The winning couple in each dance category, salsa, bachata and merengue, receives $100. No fee to participate. Sign-ups will be held from 9 to 11 p.m. the night of the event.

» Old School Hip-Hop and R&B Party: 9 p.m. Saturday. Nothing but old-school favorites will be spun by disc jockey Big Money.
