***image1***The 435th Medical Group broke ground Nov. 16 on a new 6,200 square foot addition to Bldg. 2114, the Ramstein primary care facility.

According to Capt. Amy Russo, 435th MDG practice manager, the construction enables the medical group to centrally consolidate most primary care services – including family practice and pediatrics – and provides much needed expansion to the pharmacy and X-ray waiting areas.

“The project also enlarges the medical records department, expands the deployment medicine clinic and modifies screening areas to improve patient privacy while providing more comfortable family practice waiting areas,” said Captain Russo.

The new extension, as well as the original structure will be air conditioned. Captain Russo also added that all remodeling projects have been scheduled in sequential order around this project, so no delays in service will occur during the construction. Parking will not be affected.

“We were already beyond capacity for space requirements and we desperately need the additional space to improve patient flow and consolidate clinic functions,” said Horst Lutz, 435th MDG clinical engineer.

The medical group expects to occupy the new facility by June 2007.
