Medieval fest takes place on Falkenstein Castle

Falkenstein Castle, located high above Falkenstein village, is one of the most impressive castle ruins in the northern Palatinate region. It will be the stage for a medieval spectacle Saturday and Sunday.

The event will feature a knights camp with knights presenting show fights.

A medieval market will include craftsmen such as blacksmiths, turners, potters, glass blowers, stonemasons, and painters showing off their craftsmanship arts. Vendors will sell merchandise from the Middle Ages such as clothes, leather items, weapons, jewelry, arts and herbs.

Musicians will play on historical instruments, and dance groups will perform. Jugglers will entertain the audience, show off their acrobatic skills and present a fire show. Children can listen to fairy tales, try archery and participate in skill games.

Fest activities will start at 10 a.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. Sunday.

Admission fee is €6 for adults and €2 for children. Visitors in medieval costumes and students pay €4. Children shorter than a sword are admitted free. The two-day ticket is €10.

A free shuttle bus will take passengers through the Falkensteiner Valley coming from direction Winnweiler and Imsbach. Parking spots can be found on the meadows of Wambacher Hof.

Falkenstein Castle is north of Imsbach. Travel on B40, pass Sembach and Winnweiler, exit when reading the sign leading the way to Falkenstein.
