***image1***A medieval market takes place Saturday, Sunday and Monday within the old walls of Lemberg Castle.

Visitors can experience how people in the Middle Ages lived. Craftsmen present medieval skills and vendors sell merchandise from former times. Knights present show fights and musicians and jugglers entertain the visitors.

Market activities start at 11 a.m. on all days; they end at midnight Saturday and Sunday, and at 8 p.m. Monday. Handicraft presentations include a smith, a wool spinner, a turner and a stone sculptor.

Vendors offer historic costumes, leather goods, flower wreaths, jewelry, woodcarvings and herbs.

Children can try their skills in finger looping, spinning with a hand spindle, making fire with a fire stone and learning about the armament of knights. Historic games will be played to demonstrate how people in the Middle Ages used to kill time when the weather was bad.

A tavern spectacle closes out the days with a fire and light show, presented by the group Lichtarello.

A variety of drinks from former times will be served such as mead, fruit wines and liquors. The food includes crepes, steaks, wurst and cheese specialties.

Admission fee is €5 for adults. Children under 16 are admitted free. People in historic costumes receive a €2 coupon for something to drink in the coffee tavern.

Lemberg is located about 15 kilometers southeast of Pirmasens. Take Autobahn A62 toward the Pirmasens exit. Continue on B10 toward Landau, take the Lemberg exit and follow the signs to Lemberg.
