Hundreds of runners start their mountain run up to Nanstein Castle. The run is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. March 12 near Sickingensporthalle on Kaiserstrasse 128 in Landstuhl.

The running club LLG Landstuhl will sponsor its 19th German-American Nanstein Mountain Run at 3 p.m.

March 12. The run begins near Sickingensporthalle, the gym next to the public swimming pool, on Kaiserstrasse 128 and goes across forest trails to Nanstein Castle.

The trail is 7.1 kilometers long with a height difference of 350 meters.

“We are hoping to again lure about 300 runners, just like in 2015,” said Alexander Barsteiner, LLG public affairs chief. “Last year, the female winner, Melanie Noll, finished with a new course record of 28:33 minutes. The male winner, Jonas Lehman, won with a time of 25:11 minutes.”

The first three winners of each age group will receive certificates and prizes. The awarding ceremony will be at 5 p.m. The entrance fee is €6 for adults and €3 for students.

The locker room for men is in Sickingensporthalle and the one for women is in IGS-Schulsporthalle on Konrad-Adenauer Strasse.

“If desired, we can arrange the transportation of clothes and sports bag to the finishing point,” Barsteiner said. “The return path is about 1,200 meters and posted with signs.”
