Niederkirchen holds Easter egg market

On Sunday, the Niederkirchen community hall, called “Westpfalzhalle,” will be the stage for the 18th Easter market, sponsored by the Association for the Advancement of German-French Partnership.

The traditional market will take place from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

“After dark, winter days we get inspired by the signs of spring when decorating Westpfalzhalle for this Easter event,” said Jürgen Feind, the association’s executive committee member. “The Easter market offers a good opportunity for all visitors to plan on a family trip.”

More than 30 exhibitors will display and sell their handcrafted items. Besides Easter art, the market will offer handmade soaps, bird houses, baskets, jewelry, silk paintings, window hangings, embroideries, felt objects, tatting and turning works, stuffed animals, ceramics, silhouettes, products made of natural stones and chocolates.

Easter eggs, made from different techniques, might turn into popular collectors’ items.

“Like in recent years, we will serve delicacies, including French food specialties, as well as selected wines from France and Germany,” said chef Jürgen Kupfer.

There will also be coffee and homemade cakes at reasonable prices. During the market, children can take part in a raffle and a painting contest.Admission fee is €1. Children under 14 are admitted free.

“Every visitor should be able to find something in our diversified and big selection of art and crafts items. The Easter market in Niederkirchen is worth a visit,” Feind said.

Niederkirchen is located north of Otterberg, past Schallodenbach.
