Lose yourself in the island city of Venice, Italy! Venice is the original pedestrian zone and is filled with countless shops, restaurants, museums and other attractions. With no tour guide or set schedule to follow, you will be able to explore this living museum however you see fit. Visit the glass museums on Murano, ride a water taxi or gondola in the Grand Canal, or shop on both sides of the Rialto Bridge. Regardless of what you plan for your day, make sure to visit Saint Mark’s Square, and remember to plan time into your schedule for when you eventually get lost (and you will!) in this beautiful maze of winding streets and canals.

Explore Berlin, the capital city of Germany! Visit Brandenburg Gate, explore Checkpoint Charlie, the remnants of the Berlin Wall, and the legacy of communist East Berlin. See the ruins of WWII, eat a currywurst, shop at the exclusive stores on Kurfürstendamm and Unter den Linden, visit Berlin Zoo, or check out the view of the once divided city from the top of the TV tower or the glass dome of the Reichstag! There is no set schedule or tour guide to follow so you can explore all of Berlin’s options however you wish.

French/German Border Hike
June 8
Cost: $35 Age: All, challenging for children who cannot be carried, challenging for parents carrying children.
We will hike for about 7-10 kilometers along steep and at times, physically demanding trails which will take us to several 12th century castle ruins. We will have lunch on top of one of the ruins with a commanding view of the surrounding terrain. Weather and season permitting we will have the ability to explore one of the castles with intact halls, corridors and rooms! Extra fee 4.50 euro associated with main castle entry; bring euro. Please pack a sack lunch for on the trail.

Hut Hiking and Climbing

High in the Swiss Alps above the shores of Lake Lucerne sits The Swiss Alpine Club Wingallenhutte mountain hut. 3 hours of scenic hiking from the top of the gondola station take us from 1400m to over 2000m to spend three nights exploring trails with views including glacier-covered slopes and mountain summits over 300 meters high! Technical rock climbing opportunities abound for those interested in vertical endeavors. Well protected, beginner friendly routes exist all around the hut. There is even a small alpine lake to take a cheeky dip in!

Family-Friendly UTV Tours
Explore the great outdoors with Baumholder Outdoor Recreation in a UTV (Utility Task Vehicle)! We’ll explore the incredible surrounding countryside of the Rhine, Mosel and Nahe Valleys, world renowned for its beautiful vineyards and rivers. Riding with a guide who knows where to go can make the experience even better! Available on select weekends throughout 2019. This tour is open to riders of all ages when accompanied by a USAREUR licensed driver. $95 per vehicle.

Paintball Play Days
The first weekend of every month come out to one of the largest Army Paintball fields in Europe offered through the Baumholder Outdoor Recreation and try this thrilling activity! We organize teams for continuous all-day game play. Tire Town, White House, Bunkers and more in Paintball field. Game equipment available for purchase or rent. Open to ID card holders 16.
