Bavarian Fairytale Castles

Visit Neuschwanstein Castle, Germany’s most recognized building. Never intended for public eyes, the interior of this fantastic castle is visited by millions of visitors each year, and was the inspiration for the Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland! You will also visit one of King Ludwig’s favorite childhood homes, Hohenschwangau, a ruined medieval castle, purchased and rebuilt by Ludwig’s father, King Maximillian II. After visiting both castles, you will still have time for a leisurely lunch break, and souvenir shopping, before your return to Baumholder. Cost: Adults $99 per person, children under 12: $79 p.c.

Immerse yourself in the world of the royals at the Tower of London, Buckingham Palace, and Windsor Castle. Visit the British Museum, the National Gallery, Victoria and Albert’s, or Madame Tussauds. Snap that perfect panorama picture of Big Ben from the top of the London Eye. Visit the original Hard Rock Café and get a picture crossing Abbey Road, or get in some shopping on Oxford Street or at Harrods. A new addition in 2019! Join us at the Ramstein Aquatic Center for an evening of fun exploring your choice of watercraft including stand up paddleboard (SUP) or kayak. Do you already have experience in a boat? Our trained instructors can help you develop new skills including stroke combinations and a progression to rolling your kayak back over if you’ve flipped! Best of Bavaria
April 19-21
The Zugspitze, Neuschwanstein Castle aka “Cinderella’s Castle”. The World’s tallest church spire at Ulm Minster. Nearby Bavaria hosts some of the most famous destinations in all of Germany and this not-to-be-missed Easter weekend itinerary includes all three! Day hikes, skiing on the summit of the Zugspitze, historic city-center touring, and accommodation in the picturesque mountain-monastery town of Ettal (Garmisch area) will make for an unforgettable getaway. Calmont vinyard climbing path
April 20
Experience one of the most magnificent views in Germany while traversing Europe’s steepest vineyard. Your guide will lead you along the climbing path over ladders and steps above the Mosel River. French/German border hike

Join Ramstein Outdoor Recreation for a day of hiking in the forests of France and Germany. We will hike for about 7-10 kilometers along steep and at times, physically demanding trails which will take us to several 12 century castle ruins. We will have lunch on top of one of the ruins with a commanding view of the surrounding terrain. Weather and season permitting we will have the ability to explore one of the castles with intact halls, corridors and rooms! Extra fee 4.50 euro associated with main castle entry; bring euro, snacks, water, and packed lunch. Cost: $35

Burg Eltz castle hike

Hike multiple scenic miles through the Eltz Forest and take in views of both the Elzbach River and Burg Eltz! Burg Eltz is a medieval castle nestled in the hills above the Mosel River that is still owned by a branch of the same family that lived there in the 12th century. An English speaking tour of the magnificent 850 year old castle is included. Participants can bring a sack lunch or eat at the restaurant on site. Cost: $40, Age: All
