***image1***About 180 barracks’ residents will soon spilt $5,000 for their unit funds for placing in the 415th Base Support Battalion’s 2004 Best Barracks Award Program.

A U.S. Army Europe unique program, this cash-award program started five years ago to recognize barracks’ residents who show pride in where they live by making sure repairs are done, safety standards are met and common areas are clean.

“This program is important to the Soldiers because it recognizes the hard work they put into their barracks by cleaning it, making it look better and maintaining the upkeep of their barracks,” said the 415th BSB Command Sgt. Maj. Olga Martinez.

Command sergeant majors from the 415th BSB, 37th Transportation Command and Landstuhl Regional Medical Center conducted inspections Sept. 10 on 32 barracks on Kleber Kaserne, Daenner Kaserne, Rhine Ordnance Barracks, Miesau Army Depot and LRMC.

This year’s winner for the large category was Building 3102 on Daenner Kaserne. Members of the 21st Theater Support Command, 200th Material Management Command and 90th Postal Company will divide $1,750 into their unit funds.

In the medium category, Soldiers from the 181st Signal Company in Building 3824 on LRMC tied for first place with four-time winner, Soldiers from Company “C,” 1st Satellite Control Battalion in Building 3813 also on LRMC. They will each receive $1,125 for their unit funds.

Second place winners for the large category were the Soldiers from the 212th Mobile Army Surgical Hospital and LRMC in Building 3707,  on LRMC. They will divide $1,000 for their unit funds.

Next September, the 415th BSB Best Barracks Award Program will again add money to unit funds of residents who make the barracks home.
