RAMS students do some brain work

***image1***A group of students at Ramstein American Middle School, mesmerized by Dr. Lisa Smith’s presentation on neurology Oct. 19, learned that a person can be awake and alert while a doctor investigates their brain.

Dr. Smith is a pediatric neurologist and shared her knowledge of the brain with elective classes, covering everything from history to neurology to vitamins and suggestions for maintaining a healthy brain.

The students were especially interested in “phrenology” when Dr. Smith shared her model of a head with a map inscribed indicating where character and mental capacity was thought to have originated.

Dr. Smith also allowed students some hands-on experience with her instruments.
