Ramstein drill team brings home trophy


***image1***The Ramstein Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps cadets recently brought home the overall European Drill Competition championship trophy for the fourth consecutive year.
Participants in the competition included Air Force and Navy JROTC units throughout Department of Defense Dependent Schools Europe.
Ramstein cadets also won first place honors in the following categories: Inspection, Regulation Drill, and Unarmed Exhibition (Fancy Foot team). The rifle team won third place honors.
“(Retired) Senior Master Sgt. Tom Speller did a great job bringing the team together,” said Cadet Sarah Billiar.
Individual award winners were cadets Carl Sowdon and Alyssa Sarmiento who won the Commander’s Trophy for outstanding Saber and Fancy Foot team commanders.
Scoring for the annual event included discipline, immaculate appearance, professional performance and competitive enthusiasm.
“Again, teamwork and camaraderie proved to be an important part in achieving our goal,” said Cadet Michael Strickler.
