Ramstein holds cinnamon, waffles market


***image1***Ramstein-Miesenbach celebrates its traditional Christmas market entitled “Cinnamon and Waffles Market” Saturday and Sunday on the local Marktplatz in the center of town.

More than 30 exhibitors including local associations and groups present their merchandise, serve food specialties and provide a musical program.

The Power-Girls from the Ramstein Dance Sports Association offer their handcrafted calendars and donate profits to a children’s charity.

The local Kolping family serves Flammkuchen, tarte flambée (similar to pizza). Their net profits are used for the church renovation.

The youth fire brigade presents foods, beverages and woodcarving products.
The German Red Cross and helpers of the “Tafel,” an organization which supports needy people with food, sell cinnamon, waffles and glühwein.

Vendors sell gifts, Christmas decorations, handcrafted angels, candles, knitted items, jewelry and birdhouses. Glühwein cups with the Ramstein emblem are available for sale.

Sunday, two more stands are put up:one with farmers’ specialties and one with Christmas baking goods.

Saturday, a brass ensemble, the Kottweiler-Schwanden and the Hütschenhausen music associations provide the musical entertainment starting at 2 p.m.
Sunday, after the performance by an ensemble from a school in Kaiserslautern, musicians and singers from the AGAPE choir presents gospels and spituals starting at 6 p.m. Saturday, the Christmas market is open 2 to 10 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
