Ramstein member killed in motorcycle accident

A member of Team Ramstein was killed in a motorcycle accident near Otterberg, Germany, at approximately 12:20 p.m. July 31.

Lt. Col. John Witherow, 39 of Pollock, La., was assigned to the 86th Medical Group and was stationed at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center since 2008.

“This is a tragedy and our hearts go out to the Witherow family,” said Col. Stephen Lambert, 86th Airlift Wing vice commander. “He was a loving father, husband, wingman and friend. His loss will be felt across our Kaiserslautern Military Community and we will work to provide untiring support and assistance to his family during this difficult time.”

The cause of the accident is currently under investigation.

IRS 529 Scholarship Savings Accounts have been opened for Lt. Col. (Doctor) John Witherow’s two young children, Grant and Elise.
