The Ramstein Middle School Parent Teacher Student Association competed against hundreds of other PTSAs across the nation and was one of only 32 to be awarded for their plans to celebrate Take Your Family to School Week, which was held Feb. 8 to 14.

The National PTA awarded the RMS PTSA $1,897, an amount that honors the year the PTA was founded.

The PTSA planned several activities for families during the week, including a family dinner and a movie night, Muffin Monday (offering free muffins to all families and students) and a parents versus students dodgeball tournament during recess. Many parents came during the first period of the day to listen to the morning announcements and say the Pledge of Allegiance.

Lacy Ullmann, RMS PTSA president, welcomed the hundreds of parents who attended the awards assemblies. On the final day of the week-long celebration, families were invited to join their children during school lunch and treated to free ice cream.

“Now, more than ever, it’s so important for parents to have an active role in their children’s education, and not just at home. PTA Take Your Family to School Week gives today’s parents and families the key to the door of their children’s school experience,” said Jan Harp Domene, National PTA president. “We’re happy for Ramstein Middle School and feel local schools should be recognized for the work they do for all children.”
