Ramstein Officers’ Club: You asked, we listened

The 86th Force Support Squadron recently held a series of focus groups on the Ramstein Officers’ Club. In these sessions, officers, civilians and dependents gave several ideas of how to make the officers’ club better and we listened.

The first Friday of every month is the Officers’ Membership night, where they can enjoy heavy hors d’oeuvres and drink specials during social hour.

There have been several improvements to First Friday, to include enhancing the carving station, adding an extra bartender, and more food choices.

One of the recurring focus group requests was for additional healthy menu options, a sandwich line and a soup and salad only option.  The club responded and has implemented a daily soup and salad only option during the lunch buffet where club members pay $5.95 and non-members pay $7.95.

“Many people on base have short lunch breaks. Eating here provides healthier options and they can be in and out within 20 minutes,” said Timothy Hay, Ramstein Officer’s Club manager.

The club has introduced a specialty sandwich line that will be offered every Thursday in place of the normal buffet. It will serve hot and cold sandwiches made to order, to include choices such as grilled ham and cheese, chicken wraps, Mediterranean stuffed pita and assorted cold sandwiches paired with gluten-free, all natural kettle chips.

There will also be a variety of soups, chili, and salad bar. Club members will pay $7.95 for the cold sandwich and $9.95 for the hot sandwich.  Non-members will pay $9.95 for the cold sandwich and $11.95 for the hot sandwich.

The club will also be offering a pasta bar on Fridays starting in May. Customers will be able to pick their choice of pasta, meats or vegetables, a sauce, and herbs and spices.

The lunch buffet is open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.  Military members of all ranks and branches, civilian personnel and dependents are able to enjoy the lunch buffet.

Expanding programs, the club is in the process of arranging a European Art/Wine/Beer Fest. They are meeting with local artists, wineries and breweries that would like to participate in providing a sampling of their products and art displays.  They are also looking to offer some “Wine 101” seminars to provide a basic introduction to wine.

The club is also exploring options to further expand family-oriented programs, which was another frequent focus group suggestion.  Meanwhile, the club operated Pizza Gallerie located in the Ramstein Community Center offering a Family Night 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. every Monday.
